“Chic
on the bridge” is a campaign slogan of Louis Vuitton’s ad ; in the lead role - the iconic Alma bag , created in
1934. Steven Klein is
responsible for
the overall and the four young, modern women
played by Karlie Kloss, Daria Strokous, Jac Jagaciak and Iris Strubegger , take a cult bag on a
journey . For scenery served three metropolises and
their bridges. Why bridges? Created as the Squire Bag
by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, it was also known as the Champs-Elysées
before being named the Alma, after the Pont de l'Alma -
an arch bridge in Paris across the Seine. It was named to commemorate
the Battle of Alma during the Crimean War , in which the Franco-British
alliance achieved victory over the Russian army on 20 September 1854. Construction
took place between 1854 and 1856. It was inaugurated by Napoleon III on 2 April
1856. Each of the four piers was decorated with a statue of military nature: a
Zouave and a grenadier by Georges Diébolt , and a skirmisher and an
artilleryman by Arnaud.
Models with Alma bags in French blue Epi leather on the Pont du
Carrousel symbolizes Paris. The Pont
du Carrousel is a bridge in Paris , which spans the River Seine between the
Quai des Tuileries and the Quai Voltaire. Bleu de France (Blue of France) is a
colour traditionally used to represent France.
Blue has been used in the heraldry of the French monarchy since at least
the 12th century, with the golden fleurs-de-lis of the kings always set
on a blue (heraldic "azure") background. A brighter version,
based on the blue of the French Tricolour is used in modern times, particularly
in a sporting context. French national teams in all sports will normally use
blue as their main colour.
Red
Monogram Vernis on the Waibaidu
Bridge , called the Garden Bridge in English, the first all-steel bridge, and the only surviving example of a camelback
truss bridge, in China . The fourth foreign bridge built at its location since
1856, in the downstream of the estuary of the Suzhou Creek , near its
confluence with the Huangpu River , adjacent to the Bund in central Shanghai ,
connecting the Huangpu and Hongkou districts, the present bridge was opened on
20 January 1908. With its rich history and unique design the Waibaidu Bridge is
one of the symbols of Shanghai. Red, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good
fortune and joy. Red is found everywhere during Chinese New Year and other
holidays and family gatherings. A red envelope is a monetary gift which is
given in Chinese society during holiday or special occasions. The red color of
the packet symbolizes good luck.
Taxi yellow cab and the Brooklyn
Bridge represent New York City. The bridge is one of the oldest suspension
bridges in the United States. Completed in 1883, it connects the boroughs of
Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East River. With a main span of 1,595.5
feet (486.3 m), it was the longest suspension bridge in the world from its
opening until 1903, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge. In 1908, Albert
Rockwell, (founder and General Manager of the New Departure Manufacturing Co.
of Bristol, Connecticut) traveled to Europe to evaluate their taxi systems,
hoping to develop a similar one in Washington, D.C. 'Wyckoff, Church and
Partridge' had a number of orange-yellow colored Rockwell taxicabs operating on
Manhattan streets in 1909. The 'Yellow Taxicab Co.' was incorporated in New
York on April 4, 1912. Its fares that year started at 50¢/mile (equivalent to
$11.44 in 2011 adjusted for inflation).According to Yellow Cab Co. tradition,
the color (and name) yellow was selected by John Hertz as the result of a
survey by the University of Chicago which indicated it was the easiest color to
spot.
